Dans son livre « L’aide Fatale » les ravages d’une aide inutile et de nouvelles solutions pour l’Afrique, Dambisa Moyo, une économiste zambienne dresse un bilan désastreux de l’aide au développement des 70 dernières années. L’aide a été un échec et n’a de toute façon pas contribué au développement culturel et économique du continent africain. Pire même, l’aide a contribué à un affaiblissement accru de la plupart des pays africains. Son livre m’accompagne pendant mon voyage en direction du Niger où une équipe parisienne de Teo 2004 organise une mission de neurochirurgie dans l’hôpital national de Niamey.  En mars de cette année, j’étais au Cameroun avec l’équipe de Teo Aquitaine. Le Niger n’a pas d’accès direct à la mer. Selon l’indice du développement humain des NU  (IDH 2013), c’est le pays le moins développé du monde. In her book " Dead Aid ,  why development aid is not working and how there is another way for Africa ” Dambisa Moyo, a Zambian economist, makes up the painful balance of development aid over the past 70 years. The aid has failed and has in no way contributed to the economic and cultural growth of the African continent. What is more, the aid has contributed to the further decline of most African countries. Her book accompanies me on my way to Niger where the Paris Teo2004 team organizes a neurosurgical mission at the National Hospital in Niamey. Een schaamlapje ten grote van een businesskaartje  door Pierre Mertens In haar boek ‘ Doodlopende Hulp ,  waarom ontwikkelingshulp niet werkt en wat er wel moet gebeuren ’  maakt Dambisa Moyo een Zambiaanse econome een pijnlijke balans op van de ontwikkelingshulp van de laatste 70 jaar. De hulp heeft gefaald en alvast niet bijgedragen tot economische en culturele groei van het Afrikaanse continent. Meer nog, de hulp heeft bijgedragen tot de verdere aftakeling van de meeste Afrikaanse landen.  Haar boek begeleidt me op weg naar Niger waar een Parijs Teo2004-team een neurochirurgische missie organiseert in het Nationaal ziekenhuis in Niamey. Eerder dit jaar was ik met het TEO-team uit Bordeaux in Kameroen. Niger heeft geen rechtstreekse toegang tot de zee.   Volgens de   VN -index van de menselijke ontwikkeling (2013) is Niger  het minst ontwikkelde land ter wereld.
